ABOUT GONZALO LAUDA

Gonzalo Lauda was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1967. He began his photography studies in 1985 together with Pedro Luís Raota, Eduardo Gil and Fabiana Barreda.

At the age of 17, his father, attentive to his interest in the seventh art, gave him his first camera: a Minolta K1000, with which he began his own path of learning. He defines himself as self-taught.

From the beginning, his interest in the reliefs, fauna and landscapes of his country, prompted him to delve into artistic photography. Interest that remains constant throughout his career.

Between 1989 and 1990, he traveled to Europe, where he made several contacts that allowed him, once back in Argentina, to immerse himself fully in the world of fashion photography.

He sets up his first photographic studio in the garage at the back of his parents' house, where he does his first jobs for his friends.

In 1994 he opened a studio in Lofts de Dorrego, in Palermo, and established himself as a fashion photographer, working for the most renowned publishers and making important fashion campaigns.

In 2002, he set up the studio of his dreams in a shed that he acquired in the Nuñez neighborhood, Buenos Aires. Little by little he gets into the world of advertising photography, an area where he finishes settling in 2009, when he founds his own production company, STRUKA. During the years of STRUKA he works for major national and international brands, such as: Brahama, Telecom, Movistar, Honda, Volskwagen, Quilmes, Imperial, Stella Artois, Corona, Nike, Fila, among others.

At the same time, around the year 2005, Gonzalo resumed his latent interest in the world of artistic photography, and made new photographic trips through Argentina.

In 2013 he published "Agua", his first book, where he gathers photographs of horizons in which the sea and the lakes of Argentine Patagonia take center stage.

In 2015 he visited the Malvinas Islands, and as a result of that trip, he published his second book "Malvinas". Some of these pieces were later exhibited at the Malvinas and South Atlantic Islands Museum, in the former ESMA.

That interest in history has led him since 2016 to work on the series "Independence", where he recreates scenes from Argentina's independence history, in shots where he directs the scene until he achieves the desired image.

In 2020 the production company closes definitively, to focus on his artistic photography work and on his photographic journeys.
